In total, within the last year ROSHEN Corporation spent more than 33,6 mln hrn for charitable assistance to the hospital “OKHMATDYT”. However, the program doesn’t stop here, as there are a lot of other projects on the roadmap.
In 2015 ROSHEN Corporation initiated a large scale project of a charity support to Kyiv National Children’s Specialized Hospital “OKHMATDYT”, as part of a long term social program “Healthy Generation of Children”. The program aims to provide the hospital with the latest equipment and set up the infrastructure to make an inpatient stay in hospital as comfortable as possible.
The decision to cooperate with the hospital “OKHMATDYT” is not accidental. Children from all over Ukraine come here for treatment frequently after not having received the desired results in other medical institutions. So they put all their hopes on the medical specialists from “OKHMATDYT”. Therefore, it is clear that the hospital must be provided with the very best and latest equipment, while the working conditions of the medical staff and conditions of patients’ stay should comply with the highest international standards. ROSHEN closely cooperates with the hospital management, together they discuss and define the most pressing financial problems, which cannot wait for the government funding. Thus, our Corporation gets down to business and tackles the issue.
To achieve the set goals, the support to the hospital is conducted in a stepwise manner. In May 2015 at the first stage of the project, ROSHEN Corporation donated the most advanced mobile anaesthetic machine Primus Draeger with unique configurations to the neonatal surgery department. Only in 2014 the neonatal surgery department conducted 1251 complex surgeries to kids from various parts of Ukraine. That is why it is so important to provide operating rooms with the best equipment. The anaesthetic machine Primus Draege allows to properly calculate and apply anaesthesia even to infants weighing up to 1,000 g., as well as perform lung ventilation very smoothly, which dicreases the risk of lung injury during surgery. Another advantage of this equipment is its mobility, so it is also possible to use it in other hospital departments.
In April 2016, as part of the program “Healthy Generation of Children”, another unique device Force Triad power platform worth of 2 052 299 hrn was added to the surgical equipment of the hospital “OKHMATDYT”. According to the hospital’s record, each year more than 1200 surgeries are performed here, so the new equipment will allow doctors both to extend the scope of surgical treatments and to simplify the technique.
Force Triad power platform combines the functions of unipolar and bipolar electro-coagulation and the LigaSure function for patients of any age. Electro-coagulation in this device does not damage blood vessels, but is still effective. LigaSure function allows to weld and transect blood vessels of up to 7mm in diameter, cut and treat the bleeding surface of internal organs during both laparoscopic and open surgery. In general, the use of this platform speeds up the surgery procedure 2-3 times and prevents blood loss in a patient. Thus, there is no need in donated blood or blood products and the postoperative period is shorter.
ROSHEN Corporation provided an intensive care unit with the Zoll R-Serie defibrillator, which meets all the requirements of the first intensive emergency care.
Also, ROSHEN purchased operating tables by Steris Surgical Technologies (vertebrological and neurosurgical tables with orthopedic attachments and accessories) and operating lights for the hospital’s surgery suite. The benefit of these operating tables is their versatility, namely, flexibility, modality, ergonomics, extreme mobility, X-ray capacity, powering by the electrical network or battery, secure table locking to the floor and surface roughness compensation, quick and convenient connecting of accessories.
Cooperating with the hospital, ROSHEN provides the financial support for repairs to X-ray and U/S equipment.
New evaporators by an Italian company VRV ensure a more comfortable stay in the hospital. Two evaporators with a volume of 6 m3 replaced the old ones with a smaller volume. These modern devices allow to increase the oxygen supply, which is extremely important in winter period and during holidays. In addition, the implementation of the medical oxygen supply system is still in progress in surgical and neonatal buildings. The elevator in the surgical building was replaced and two more new elevators are planned to be installed.
